Everything you need to know before you bring your vehicle in.
Yes. All mechanical repairs and parts supplied by Gearhead Workshop carry a 12-month / 20 000 km warranty (whichever comes first). Labour-only work carries a 6-month warranty. If a fault recurs within the warranty period, we will repair it free of charge. Warranty is void if the vehicle has been worked on by another workshop in the interim.
We have two courtesy vehicles available for clients whose cars are booked in for full-day or multi-day repairs. Bookings are first-come, first-served. Please request the courtesy car when you make your appointment. A valid South African driving licence and a R1 000 refundable deposit are required. The vehicle is provided fuel-empty and must be returned the same way.
We work on all Japanese, Korean, German and South African-assembled vehicles. This includes Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, Renault, Nissan, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Our OBD-II scanner covers all models from 2000 onwards. We do not currently service exotic European vehicles (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche) or heavy trucks above 3.5 tonnes.
We accept cash, EFT and all major debit/credit cards via a tap-to-pay terminal. EFT payments must reflect before vehicle collection. We do not accept cheques. For insurance-approved repairs, we invoice the insurer directly and you pay only the agreed excess at collection. A detailed invoice is issued for every job, VAT included.
No. Under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa, you are entitled to have your vehicle serviced at any registered workshop without voiding the manufacturer warranty, provided the service is performed to manufacturer specification and the correct parts are used. We use OEM-equivalent or original parts, stamp your logbook and supply a full service invoice. Your dealer warranty remains intact.
A minor service typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours. A major service takes 3 to 4 hours. Larger repairs (clutch, suspension, engine work) are usually same-day if booked by 09:00, or next-day for afternoon bookings. We send a WhatsApp update when your vehicle is ready. Parts availability can occasionally extend the turnaround; we will advise you upfront.
Walk-ins are welcome for minor services, tyre fitment and quick diagnostic scans. For larger repairs, clutch and brake work, or if you need the courtesy vehicle, please book at least 24 hours in advance via WhatsApp, phone or the form on this page. Saturday appointments fill up quickly so book by Thursday for a weekend slot.
